Meet Shelly

Shelly is currently a 'Phase three" midwifery student working in the primary under supervision role, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Midwifery. Shelly is an apprentice midwife with Trillium Birth ServicesNine Short Months Birth Center, Northwest Ohio Birth Services, and the Toledo Midwives.

"Within my practice, I provide inclusive pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care that is compassionate, respectful, and culturally appropriate for all clients, parents, babies, and families. I have a personal and professional passion for helping people feel empowered, knowledgeable, and confident."

"After a long journey and series of circuitous events (including a brief enlistment in the U. S. Army), I am finally pursuing my dream of becoming a midwife."

Shelly has been working with pregnant people as a doula, midwife assistant, and massage therapist for 20 years. She has studied many holistic practices, is trained in spinning babies techniques, and teaches childbirth education. When not at work, you will find Shelly studying for her midwifery degree, assisting community midwives and Doula clients at births, or hanging out with family and friends in the Old West End.

In 2006, I founded and maintained Kneading Time Holistic Therapy Center in Sylvania, Ohio. Together with many of our area’s practitioners, we presented a multi-disciplinary practice that offered nutrition counseling, energy healing, hypnosis, massage therapy, and many educational classes and workshops. One of the most popular events that still exists is the Natural Living Festival and the monthly 'complimentary' education and healing-share events. Unfortunately, the center closed in 2009 but within the next 5-10 years, I intend to re-establish a wellness center focusing on midwifery and holistic practices for all ages and phases of life.

My commitment is to help you find and maintain balance, to help you function at your personal best.
